I spotted this ghost sign at 271 W. 10th St. while the building was undergoing renovations back in June of 2019.

I wasn’t sure what the few faded letters spelled-out, but the NYC 1940s tax photos revealed it to be for “D. Walsh”.

The building was originally a stable and garage until the mid 1960s when it began to be used a residential and commercial space. It is currently a single-family home.
