The ghost sign for Super B Drugs, located at the corner of 275 Canal St. at the corner of Broadway is now no more. This photo is from October 2018. Checking google maps it shows the street corner in June 2019 with the ghost sign already gone.

I wasn’t able to find out much about the store. The 1940s tax photo for 275 Canal St. does show that it was a drug store back then known as “Cut Rate Total Drug Store.” But looking at the 1980s tax photo it appears it was a drug store no more.

Browsing through online photo collections throughout the years I have found this photo twice times. First a photo from 1978 (photographer unknown.)

And then again from 1997 (photo by Meredith Jacobson Marciano.)

I have a feeling the store must have gone out of business sometime in the 1970s; telephone exchanges names were phased out by the 1960s but the paint still looks fresh in the photo from 1978.
